PROF. JEAN-MARC CHOVELON

Prof. Jean-Marc Chovelon is a Full Professor at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and carries out his research at IRCELYON - Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l'Environnement de Lyon, a unit associated with the CNRS.

His scientific activity mainly concerns photodegradation and photocatalytic processes for the removal of organic pollutants, the development of advanced analytical techniques for environmental applications and innovative technologies for the treatment of contaminated water and matrices. He has participated in and coordinated numerous international research projects and has carried out teaching and seminar activities at universities and scientific institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

Author of more than 239 scientific publications and holder of four patents, Prof. Chovelon also has well-established international experience in the field of environmental risk assessment, having worked as an expert for national and international institutions, including EFSA.

In the 2026/2027 academic year he will be a Visiting Professor at the Department of Basic and Applied Sciences of the University of Basilicata. During his stay, which lasts 30 days in the second semester, he will conduct lectures and seminars as part of the Soil Chemistry teaching program of the Master's Degree in Geology, Environment and Risks.

The teaching activity, entitled "Development of Advanced Analytical Techniques for Environmental Applications," corresponds to 2 CFUs and will offer students the opportunity to explore innovative methodologies for the study, control, and remediation of environmental matrices, contributing to the strengthening of scientific and teaching cooperation between the University of Basilicata and the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
